Education and training
As one of only two national recipients of the Integrative Therapeutics, Inc. - American Association of Naturopathic Physicians STAIR Scholarship and Residency, I completed my residency training at Comprehensive Health Services, an integrative multidisciplinary practice, in Phoenix, Arizona. I received a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine Degree from the University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine in Bridgeport, Connecticut. I completed my undergraduate studies in Biology and Economics at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts.
My philosophy is based on personal and social responsibility. I encourage my patients to take responsibility for their own health and for the environment. When awareness precedes treatment, we have a real opportunity to solve existing health problems and prevent future illness.
I take an unconventional approach:
While there are many excellent healthcare providers who work very hard to help their patients, as a naturopathic doctor, I look at patients in a fresh new way and diagnose differently from other health professionals. Guided by my naturopathic medical training and clinical experience, I identify and treat the root cause of your health concern. This approach gives my patients a real chance at achieving a cure.
I advocate a radical idea:
I treat the whole individual and not his or her body part or condition. Therefore, I do not fight disease, treat numbers, follow algorithms, or control symptoms. Real health concerns can not be addressed in a "canned planned" practice of medicine, and treatment can not be condensed to the size of the prescription pad. A whole-person evaluation and individualized treatment program are prerequisites for lasting health.
I subscribe to a new paradigm:
I recognize that the care of acute conditions differs greatly from the care of chronic conditions. The conventional medical paradigm is effective in treating acute conditions where the treatment is, largely, straightforward. If an individual has strep throat, it is caused by strep bacteria and is treated with an antibiotic. As there is no "penicillin" for chronic conditions, conventional medicine is not well equipped to deal with the multifactorial nature of chronic illness. Naturopathic medicine has the potential to fill the gap in effective prevention and treatment of not so straightforward conditions. The naturopathic paradigm creates opportunity for exceptionally informed patients who are in control of their health, and partners in solving their chronic health challenges.
Naturopathic medicine is an amazing fit for many people and a great partner on a journey to better health. So whether you are just browsing this site or shopping for a new provider, welcome to my practice and the growing naturopathic community!
